Five puppies found themselves without a mom and at a cold, sterile shelter at just 4 weeks of age. At 6 weeks of age, we welcomed them into a warm, loving Paw Placement foster home, where they are growing and learning every day. These babies appear to be cattle dog mixed with some other breeds, likely shepherd or collie type dogs. They are smart, working breed dogs who are looking for owners ready for lots of training and socialization for the next 6 months.

These puppies are sweet and affectionate, smart and eager to please, thoughtful and playful. They missed some vital socialization during their early weeks, and are a bit reserved when meeting new people and dogs (slow to warm up). It'll be critical to their development that positive social experiences become a part of their weekly routine after adoption - friends in their yard for a visit (both human and dog), walks in the neighborhood, trips to Starbucks and Home Depot. All 5 puppies have grown to be so much more outgoing and friendly in the weeks that they've been with us, and that will need to continue or risk raising dogs who are only comfortable in their own home with their own humans. These babies are doing incredibly well with their house and crate training, and we are optimistic that this part of their training will be a breeze! These pups require a house with a yard, they are not appropriatefor anapartment/condo setting.

Update 9/2021: Joplin has learned to LOVE swimming and this is has been a great confidence builder for her! Joplin has made lots of human and doggie friends over her months with Paw Placement. She does well with dogs of all sizes and kitties too! Joplin is crate and house trained (and dog door) in her foster home. She's looking for a forever home with a yard, a pool and maybe a dog playmate or two!

Please note: socializing dogs, especially young dogs, is critical to their development. Puppies need to have positive experiences with new people, places, sounds, dogs on a WEEKLY basis to ensure they do not grow into insecure, fearful or even aggressive adult dogs. Please consider this when adopting during this pandemic. Socialization is currently more difficult, but it isn't any less important, so please be sure you can fulfill this need in a new dog before committing to adopt. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application. Because we are still understaffed due to COVID19, we will only be able to email those applicants that are approved to schedule a meet and greet. Thank you in advance for your understanding if you don't hear back from us regarding your application.
