Mamba was named in honor of a basketball legend the world lost on the day we rescued her. She was surrendered to us by an owner who realized he couldn't give her what she needs. At just under a year old, Mamba hadn't been around another dog since she was a baby, and wasn't well socialized with people, either. Though we realized Mamba would require lots of effort and a bit of time before she would be ready for adoption, we eagerly committed to her. And she hasn't let us down!

After some time to decompress in her new home, Mamba has shown us that she loves to be a DOG! She likes to run and play with her doggie foster siblings, big and small. She enjoys a rousing game of fetch and likes napping on the couch with the other pups, and has discovered the joys of chewing on antlers and nylabones. She is silly and stubborn, affectionate and very sweet. She is medium energy - she can rumble and play, run and chase, and she can also be lazy and sleep on the couch. She is house and crate trained in her foster home. At this point, Mamba is still slow to warm up to new people and new big dogs but, with a little time and patience, she's pretty quick to come around and then she's just an absolute joy to be around.

Of course, Mamba's breed is a mystery, but she's a low-rider, so that has to mean some corgi or dachshund, and she's a gorgeous sable color and has the bark of a german shepherd. Her behavior is 99% German shepherd, so we're looking for a home that can handle a GSD! Her coat is shiny and velvety soft. She's a healthy weight at just under 40 pounds, and she's quite muscular and fit. Because she's skittish with new people, we'll be hesitant to place her in a home with children younger than 12.

Hi y'all, Mamba's foster mom here! We're getting a lot of applications (cause she's just so cute!!) that are clearly not a match right off the bat, so I thought I'd include some additional information. Mamba is so special and, given a few days to get comfortable, she's an awesome addition to the right family. Mamba is not a dog park dog - she wasn't well socialized during her first year of life and needs time to warm up. Bringing her to a dog park would be like you walking into a zombie social, not fun! She's not appropriate for an apartment, she won't do well with children too young to have impulse control, and she's still slow to warm up to new people. She's looking for a patient owner who truly understands dogs. She needs a strong leader with experience with powerful breeds because she is most certainly a GSD. She needs structure, discipline, guidance and clear expectations in order to succeed. She'd like a home with a [hearty] doggie playmate, preferably a male. She's a wonderful addition to our pack in her foster home - she's affectionate and playful, silly and fun - and we're happy to patiently wait for right fit to ensure Mamba is set up for success for the rest of her life!

~~Please note, this dog is not appropriate for an apartment or condo setting; she needs a house with a yard. She also needs a home with a hearty dog playmate.

If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application. Because we expect a large number of applications, and are still understaffed due to COVID19, we will only be able to email those applicants that are approved to schedule a meet and greet. Thank you in advance for your understanding if you don't hear back from us regarding your application.
