Murray is smart, eager to please and learn, energetic and driven. He is looking for an owner familiar with working breeds, and an active home. He would excel at dog sports such as agility and flyball, and would love to go hiking or jogging with his parents. Murray thrives when he's given direction, he loves to learn new things, and he's extremely affectionate and loving with everyone he meets.

Murray was surrendered to Paw Placement after he was found as a stray and a few weeks of searching for owners were unsuccessful. Murray is a young boy, only about 7 months old when he was found in late November 2018, and therefore still has a lot to learn. Murray is good with dogs, though it's clear he hasn't had much experience with them, so he gets very excited and is learning how to play respectfully. He is fostered with dogs of all sizes, and has been great - if overly excitable - with everyone. Cats are unknown so he cannot be placed in a home with cats. He will also need to go to a home with only older children as he's very rambunctious and could accidentally knock over a smaller child.

Murray suffered from some separation anxiety when he first came to us. He is overcoming this quickly - he's a smart boy! - and will require a home that crate trains and that has either a steel crate or a pro-select kennel. He can easily break out of standard crates (both plastic and wire) and must have something studier. He is currently comfortable being crated and will require a home that continues this ritual to ensure his separation anxiety doesn't return.

Murray is an awesome and fun guy - if you think he might be the right fit for your home, please complete an adoption application.

Update February 2019: Murray is now 100% crate trained, and will even choose to go into his crate to hang out without being asked. He is also house and potty trained in his foster home. With the structure and discipline his foster home has provided for him, his anxiety has disappeared - he is relaxed and obedient, though still very much excitable, playful and energetic. Murray loves to learn new things, and is always looking to his human for direction and guidance - again, he'd make a great agility or obedience dog! His social skills with dogs are greatly improved - he plays differently with every dog, according to that dog's play style. Murray is a fun and loving young boy, and we can't wait to find his perfect forever family!

An update from Murray's foster mom May 2019: Murray has continued to learn and blossom. He learned to swim this past weekend - within an hour, he was jumping in by himself, lapping the other dogs, and retrieving toys. In addition, Murray spent a week in another foster home and did wonderfully. He didn't attempt to bust out of his crate once. Because of this and the fact that he loves his crate now, he'll no longer require a pro-select or steel crate - just a standard crate will do the trick. Murray now frequently puts himself in his crate, door wide open, when he's looking for some down time, which is great to see! He's still a rockstar with dogs - and has met a few dozen - and would prefer a home with a doggie friend to play with or a very active owner. Murray needs an outlet - right now that is playing with 3 or more dogs in his foster home - and that can be any number of regular activities. He'll also need a home that will continue to provide him with the structure and comfort of daily crate time. His dream home would be a sport home - flyball, agility - because he's so smart, learns so quickly, and has such focus on his handler. Murray is a joy to foster and I look forward to meeting his perfect forever family!
