It was a hot June night when Maya and her sister Lola were abandoned in a stray pen at Pinal County Animal Care & Control. These young chihuahua mixes were thin, frightened and clinging to each other as they entered the shelter in Casa Grande. As the days passed, their little personalities came out and they eagerly wagged their tails and offered kisses to everyone who walked by their kennel. It was kennel #3, right up front - surely someone would pick them! But no one stopped. With every passing day, the puppies' chances of leaving through the front doors got slimmer and slimmer. , Then on a Tuesday, hope came knocking. A Paw Placement volunteer had come to rescue one dog, but she saw the sisters and knew, that day two little girls would be wagging their way toward freedom. As they drove through the Pinal County gates, Maya and Lola peered quietly at her from the backseat...and fell peacefully asleep., Lola and Maya are super-sweet, quiet, wonderful girls who do absolutely everything together. Their tails are constantly wagging and they love giving affection to dogs and humans alike. At their foster home, they're learning potty training and good manners and we're working patiently with them to further build their confidence and socialize them. , We don't know the hardships of their past, but together we can write a loving future for them. Fill out an application to meet Maya and Lola and help them find their happy ending!
