The Humane Society called us. There was a little dog who was scared to death in his kennel. He was not showing well and would likely not get adopted. But the employees knew he was sweet. His story was a sad one. A teenager bought him from Craig's List where he was described by the seller as a pure-bred miniature pinscher. He even came with AKC registration - what a laugh! And a scam for all of you out there who think that AKC registration means anything anymore. The girl who adopted this little guy soon went away to college, leaving the puppy with her parents -- two people who didnt want the dog and put him in the backyard. They fed him, they gave him water -- but they never gave him love. So, for the first year of his life, this little dog lived in neglect. Alone, in a rocky yard. One day, workmen left the gate opened and this little guy made a break for it. He was turned into the Humane Society, who contacted his owners. "We don't want him," they said. And that's when the call was made to us. Poor little doggy! He was terrified when we first approached him - he put his head down, and shook like a leaf. We cuddled him and he settled down. We spoke gently to him and he made eye contact. We gave him a new collar and once on a leash, this scared, neglected little animal suprised us all - he pranced like a little Prince. That's how he got his name. He has a regal gait and his coat shines like gold in the sun. Prince quickly learns to love and trust people. He is a cuddly little fellow who likes to give kisses. He is settling into the pampered life with his foster mom but we would love to find this guy a home for the holidays. He is sweet, sweet sweet. He loves to go on walks and would make a great canine companion for most homes. Given his smaller size, we suggest he be placed in a home where all humans are old enough to have impulse control.
