Chihuahua
Maria is a teensy-weensy sweetheart with a BIG personality. Walking past her kennel at Animal Care & Control, volunteers almost didn't see her. She was just a lanky little fluff ball but she was adamant about making her presence known. With a sharp little bark, she got our attention. Little Maria is definitely an alpha-dog who insists upon ruling the stoop. She will need to go to a home without children, as she was placed in the pound for being child-aggressive. (Small grabbing hands can be quite intimidating when you weigh only SIX pounds). Maria is currently in foster care with two other small dogs and she is a little Napoleon when it comes to exericising her will over her foster-mates. For this reason, we would like to see Maria go to a home with a submissive fellow canine or as an only dog. We do not know how Maria will behave around a cat - she will probably try to boss an animal roommate around. Please ask about our little tempest in a teacup. She is one charming chihuahua!
