Unknown breed / mixed (short coat) : : Male : : Senior : : Large German Shorthaired Pointer
Leroy sat in kennel 195 at Animal Care in Control waiting for a second chance of life. When I first saw him he was rolled up into a ball shaking violently. I passed him by thinking that he was really sick and that Paw Placement did not have a foster home that could care for a sick dog. It was 2 days later when I got an email from another rescue group asking for someone to save this older guy because he was scheduled to be euthanized on New Years Eve. I remembered him all to clearly and could picture him shaking violently in a ball....so I went down to visit this guy one more time. The rest is history.....Leroy is now in foster care with other dogs and cats. He is completely skin and bones and needs to pack on a good 10-15 lbs. He is so gentle and loves to be around people, dogs, cats, and I'm sure kids would be fine (children that know how to treat companion animals kindly)....I'm not sure he even has a mean bone in his body after everything he gone through. He follows his foster mom from room to room nudging her for pets and kisses. Leroy is completely house-trained (without a doggie door). He is a perfect gentleman in the home....you couldn't ask for a better dog. He was recently given a bath and stood in the tub patiently while he was cleaned of his past. Leroy doesn't bark, chew, bite, jump on furniture or on people. He is patient, obedient, and a complete love bug. It is his turn to be pampered for the rest of his years. He has been examined by a vet. Although is teeth are in perfect condition, you can tell he has been malnourished and spent many years laying on concrete in the backyard.
