About Mikey

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: 101
ADOPTED: Mikey has found a most loving home with another terripoo sister named Phoebe. Mikey's new adopters waited patiently for Paw Placement to finish treating him for a myriad of maladies that poor care throughout his life gave him. He is home now and his life is great!, AN UPDATE: Mikey has come a long way in foster care. He becomes very bonded with caring humans and loves playing with all dogs and cats. Now that Mikey knows he is safe, he has embraced life with gusto. He is always happy and will curl up in any warm lap, close his sweet brown eyes and let out a HUGE sigh of contentment. He is being crate-trained and house-trained in his foster's home but still needs consistent training to keep him in tip top form. Mikey will soon join the many happy Paw Placement animals in the Foster to Adopt program where he will gain a terripoo sister and hopefully, a forever home as loving as little Mikey himself! ***** THE FIRST ACCOUNT: The volunteers of Paw Placement often see animals who have been neglected or mistreated to the point of our own heartbreak. But the condition in which little Mikey was abandoned at the pound is unforgivable. His picture above shows this boy after he was groomed - he looked 20 times worse before the groomer shaved away his matted and ingrown fur. The mats had grown over his eyes and he could not see. The dredded locks had twisted into his skin causing rash and infection. And while it was a joy to see all of the torturous fur groomed away, it was sadder still to see the seven pounds of skeletal dog underneath. But underneath all of that fur as well, were two sweet brown eyes and a little tail that has just begun to wag with pleasure. Mikey is in foster, is being crate-tained and house-trained. He is quite the baby who loves being held and carried but also loves romping on the floor with any kitty or doggie friends. Mikey still needs treatment before he goes up for adoption - but we will chronicle his improvement via picture and bio. Stay tuned for The Life of Mikey.
